On the northern border of the Barony of Gryphon's Lair lies a vast marsh land that some would argue belongs to the bordering Shire (why anyone would want to claim a marsh nobody knows, but that is not the point). Several years ago the lands were disputed and from this the Midge Marsh Melee was created. The Barony, for some reason, wants to keep hold of the marshlands and to honor this, and their first birthday, we invite all to come to this grand event and enjoy. You will find many fun and entertaining things to keep you occupied throughout the day (so you don't smell the marshes or notice the flies).
An event of Olympic proportion, do you have what it takes to be a top beer maiden in Valhalla? Is your eye-hand coordination lighting fast for combat spud? Come and find out. This one-day event will test your skills with a motto of "for the fun of it".

Western Keep is holding Raid on the Mountain in Brookings as a local one day event, NOT our regular weekend camping at Hole in the Mountain campground at Lake Benton, MN. This event is to prepare and authorize fighters for Cecil's Siege (Fall Coronation in Vermillion, SD). We will meet on the south end of Hillcrest Park, in the elementary school parking lot next to the shelters. We will have heavy weapons and light weapons, but no throwing or archery since we're in city limits. The park has a playground area for children, modern plumbing, and is connected to the city aquatics park (one day pool pass is $3.00 per person, which gives you access to showers and snack booth).
In Anno Societatus XXIII, at the investiture of the Barony March of Mons Tonitrus' founding Baron & Baroness, Uchdred & Constance, a tournament named Mace & Greatsword was held. From that day forth, the victor is gifted with a beautiful French flanged mace, which stands today as a symbol of our barony.
As the name holds, it is a shieldless tournament, where the only weapons permitted are mace or greatsword. Grand fighters of Atenveldt, come Saturday and show us your skills as you do combat with single mace, mace Florentine, mace with inverted greatsword and greatsword. Who will take home the famed Mace of Thunder Mountain?
As we return to our homes after a long summer campaign, the sounds of war fade and the sounds of merriment grow. Laughter replaces the battle cry as the populace of Atlantia gathers to celebrate the glories of Pennsic in an atmosphere of frivolity and fun.
The glorious Barony of Storvik invites you to an evening of enjoyment at its traditional Post Pennsic Dessert Revel. This year's theme is "Fun and Games," so come out and play some games! You may already know that cribbage and chess are period, but have you ever played Nine Men's Morris (featured in the most recent Tournaments Illuminated), Fox and Geese, or Hazard? Bring your cards, dice, board games, and toys. Weather permitting, you can try outdoor ball-and-stick games in the small, woodsy glen (no martial activities). Veteran game players are encouraged to teach the rules and strategies to new contestants of all ages.
