Expertise in the marshaled arts will include: heavy fighters, light fighters (Rapier), youth combat, and archery. Classes in Arts and Sciences will also be scheduled through out the day.
Display of Heraldry shall be encouraged, so bring out your seldom used banners. So come forth one and all, enjoy our hospitality while we reveal the mysteries of the SCA to those new to the society. For those veterans out there who wish give guidance and instruction, we most welcome your skills and time.
The Shire of Sylvan Glen is holding its annual event - the Defenders of Sylvan Glen July 6-8.
There will be heavy fighting! There will be rapier duels (a "pearls and swine" if enough brave souls enter)! There will be youth fighting! There will be thrown weapons of all sorts! There will be an archery contest (if I can find someone willing to be the archery Marshall)! All martial activities are "tourney" style (up to each marshall to devise what kind of tourney he would like to Marshall, within the combat rules of AEthelmearc), with pick-up fights after the tourney. There will be prizes galore - including $10.00 gas cards to each winner in the above categories. Not to mention, the winning heavy fighter, rapier contestant, and each youth fighter will receive commerative wooden long swords. The Thrown weapons winner receives a ceremonial knife. Archery prize to be determined when I have an archery Marshall. ***A&S*** = In order to encourage more A&S projects, we are offering a $35.00 SCA gift certificate (good for a 1 year membership), to the winner of our A&S competition. The theme is - Medieval Monsters, and Bestiary Beasts. All youth A&S participants will receive a token of participation. AND classes - right now we only have one fine offering - a basketry class, material cost $5.00, taught by the renown Beth of Sylvan Glen. Last year we offered an entire tract of scribal activities, so be looking for scribal arts to be featured at this event. For the entertainment of our youth, we offer a periodish fishing kit (a stick, a string, a hook, and some worms). To be used with parental supervision only! There is a fishing pond at the site. In WV, all fisher persons under the age of 15, may fish without a license. If I can find a fishing marshall, we will organize a period fishing derby (I have permission). WV offers a one day fishing license., which can purchased on line for $15.00, or stop in at the Martinsburg Wal-Mart on your way to the event. A fine feast is in the final stages of planning by our own Joy of Sylvan Glen. Finally, come watch the hounds run, as a demo of coursing will be held (and a real competition held if enough dog people attend). For the 8th year the shire of Ad Flumen Caerulum opens the hunting season and once more invites all archers to celebrate the beginning of the hunt from Friday to Sunday, 13th to 15th of July, 2007.
As the grand finale of the SSG studygroup Riga semester we arrange a three day Fiore weekend in the marvelous Latvian countryside. It will be a retreat with good food, fantastic teaching held by Colin Hatcher and lots of fun filled fellowship.

Come and enjoy some summer fun with their Majesties, while watching the Equestrians compete for the honor of Champion, as well as watching the Fighter and Rapier Tournaments. Or sit in on the exciting classes before the evening of feasting, singing and dancing. During the heat of the day, only moments away, a fruity refreshment of Italian ice to enliven the day, (Kingdom fund raiser).
Day One: Eastern Traditions: A discussion of various styles including scrolls, Venetian blinds, and Japanese binding. Hands on production of: Punch Binding and Hardbound Accordion
Day Two: Western Traditions: Samples and discussion of western style codex binding. Hands on production of: Hardbound exposed spine binding on tapes Students will bring basic tools like pencils, rulers, scissors, and mat knives. Items such as awls, self-healing cutting mats, and needles will be provided.

The site is in the Shire of Lost Forest, Warrensburg, MO on Central Missouri State University's Campus in the Student Union Ballroom at the corner of Clark & Holden Streets.
The Shire of Crimson River will be holding a regional fighter practice and potluck on Saturday, July 14th, 2007. We will begin around 10:00 and keep going until everyone gets tired or it gets too dark.
Bring a dish if you want to. Leave a donation if you want to. Either way, nothing is required except that you come and enjoy our hospitality.
There will be fighting of course. We will also be working on some heraldry basics.
The day draws nigh for Atenveldt’s Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition. This year, the date has changed to Sat., Jul. 14. Please join us for a wonderful day full of the arts!
Location: The event will be held at the Fountain of Life Church (710 S. Kolb Road, Tucson). Please note that the site is dry. Smoking is in designated areas only, and pets are not allowed.

On July 14th Tarnmist will be holding its annual Protectorate Tourney. This year we will also be holding the Captain Of The Guard Tourney at the same event. For the first time in the history of the Barony Captain of the Guard will we vied for with rapiers, and in order to lure some rapier fighters down here I am providing a prize for the incoming Captain of the Guard. As the Captain of the Guard will be the commander of The Baroness's Personal Guard and will hold a position of command in the Army of Tarnmist he or she will require a token not only of the Captain's authority but a symbol of what happens to the unruly Tarnmist fighter who does not follow orders.
Music, dance, theatre, singing, storytelling, and more! If they performed it, then chances are that you'll see it at Crosston's Performing Arts Fete. Crosston will host a day of dance (with instruction) along with singing and revelry for all to take part in. In the evening, we'll take some time to have a light meal in the form of a period potluck before we get back to the festivities (and we hope you're hungry!).
Have you ever wonder where you might find that obscure bit of documentation for an A & S project or are you just seeking knowledge? In either case, join the Barony of Grey Niche and spend a day at the Lugh-brary and peruse through 100’s of books on a variety of subjects. While you cannot borrow any of these books, there will be several copiers available with a nominal cost per page. A list of all the books will be made available. Other activities will include classes, the Marcus Gracus Wheel of Fire Tournament (heavy) and rapier activities (TBA). If you are interested in bringing some of your books for others to look through, please contact the Librarian listed below.

As the grand finale of the SSG studygroup Riga semester we arrange a three day Fiore weekend in the marvelous Latvian countryside. It will be a retreat with good food, fantastic teaching held by Colin Hatcher and lots of fun filled fellowship.

Their Highnesses Gunther and Juliana invite the populace to witness the Investiture of their Heirs, the Lord and Lady of the Swan Sir Dragel Alewolf and Lady Bronwen Lorelle. Saturday will be the tourneys for the Princesses Champion and the Torchlight tourney. Sunday will be the Lord Defenders tourney and the Prima Spada. RV's are welcomed but there are no hook ups as we only have the back half of the fair grounds. For presentations at court, please see the Court Herald.
Day One: Eastern Traditions: A discussion of various styles including scrolls, Venetian blinds, and Japanese binding. Hands on production of: Punch Binding and Hardbound Accordion
Day Two: Western Traditions: Samples and discussion of western style codex binding. Hands on production of: Hardbound exposed spine binding on tapes Students will bring basic tools like pencils, rulers, scissors, and mat knives. Items such as awls, self-healing cutting mats, and needles will be provided.

The Shire of Sterlynge Vayle invites our friends and neighbors to join us for our weekly fight practice and picnic in Otsiningo Park on Sunday, July 15, 2007. This will be a very relaxed get together for fighting, eating and socializing with our friends.
We will begin gathering around noon, and will go until people are tired of fighting. Please come join us to share stories and swordplay. If you know of anyone who is interested in checking out SCA fighting for the first time, this will be the perfect opportunity. Please bring any loaner gear that you may have for newcomers. This will be in a beautiful public park, so there will probably be people wandering over to watch the fighting and maybe ask some questions. Garb is strongly encouraged. We will provide meats to cook on the grill ? hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausages, as well as rolls, fixings, and ice. Please bring your picnic gear, a dish to pass, and drinks.

Calling all Vikings! It's time once again to set up our Viking Village at the Annual Jamestown Scandinavian Folk Festival. The Scandinavian Studies Program of Jamestown, New York has invited us back for their Sixth Annual Scandinavian Folk Festival. We have been asked to set up an as authentic as possible Viking encampment. This year the festival director has expressed the desire for a larger SCA presence at the festival. We would love to have as many people as possible join us in this celebration of all things Viking.

In honor of His Highness, it will be a Roman-themed Coronet. The chosen site is a secluded lakeside setting with much room for pageantry both large and small. Bring your banners, your Roman 'bling' and your imaginations!
Come join us again in the heat of the summer sun for a weekend of fun. A recreation of the wonderfully successful invasion of England in 1066 is to occur. Be one of the Good (Normans), Bad (Vikings), or Ugly (Saxons) (autocrat preference definitely shows) as we try to relive a bit of England's important history.
There will be fighting, archery, and maybe some more fighting.
The fighting will include Warlord tourneys, hill battles, and bridge battles, and whatever else comes to mind. Weapons may be restricted to those of the time. There may even be a torchlight tourney. There may be War Maneuvers afte rthe tourneys if time allows.
