The Legio V Alaudae (based in Knoxville, TN) is holding a recruiting & demonstration event in conjunction with Austin Peay State University and Nova Roma on Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13. For any SCAdians in the area who have ever wanted to be involved in Roman re-enacting, this is a good event to attend.

Hosted by the Fifth Legion Alaudae and Austin Peay State University, The festival will be on the Austin Peay campus Oct. 12-13. The event will be open to the public Friday and Saturday (12-13) with available setup and take down days on Thursday Oct. 11 and Sunday Oct.14.

Last year, the Barony of the Sacred Stone and the Barony of Windmaster’s Hill did enter into conflict with each other, and lo, the Barony of the Sacred Stone did prevail. This year, Their Excellencies of Black Diamond’s precious daughter covets the wings of the Phoenix for herself. Their armies and allies march to claim them for her. In addition to challenging small unit Chivalric and Rapier melees, the Barony of Loch Soilleir will also be holding its A&S, Bardic, Dance, Youth A&S, and Youth Rapier Championships.

Did you ever wonder what goes in to the upkeep and training of a horse? Do want to learn how-tos of hound coursing? Maybe falconry fascinates you and you've always wanted to see one hunt on the wing. These and other topics along with hands-on-demonstrations will be yours when you come to the second Horse, Hounds and Hawks Collegium, to be held in the Shire of Coppertree on October 12-14.
You do not have to be an avid animal person to attend, there should be plenty for those who simply want to become educated on-lookers or who would like to learn some of the associated arts without actually having to own an animal of ones own. Join us in the quest to relive the glorious legends of King Arthur and his knights. During the day, the fighters will be challenged to combat as well as challenged to represent the Chivalrous virtues of the legendary Knights of the Round Table. We will also be Brewing display and A&S competition through the day; For our A&S Competition we would welcome displays with documentation appreciated but not required.
