INVITATION: Chateau de Camville, residing in the lovely lands of the Shire of Mountain's Gate (El Dorado County California), is hosting its second Combative Arts Retreat on NOVEMBER 2-4, 2007. The focus of the weekend will be to improve the skill sets of the attendees. Each day will begin with fighting classes in the first part of the day and armored drills/focused sparring in the latter part of the day. Sunday we will conclude with a mock-tournament. Please note that this is not a "beginner class" and all attendees should have a basic grasp of the foundational skills used in armored combat. Attendees should have a complete suit of armor and their own weapons. For the newer fighter (still needs to have armor/weapons mind you-grin) a Friday Basics Review Class will be offered. Various guest instructors will also be on hand. If you missed the first Combative Arts Retreat in February don't miss this one!

Heavy Weapons Fighting along with Fencing, Archery and Thrown Weapons will be featured along with an Arts and Sciences competition and a wonderful feast. After dark we will burn the Wicker Man and have a Bardic Circle. Merchants are encouraged to attend and you will not be charged any fees besides the usual event fees.

Two great Doges and their allies match wits in 15th-century Florentine style, plotting with their Councillors of Sword, Rapier, Archery, Dance and Chess to win the day and be hailed as "The Most Mighty, Cultured and Cunning City-State."
This is a combined Tournaments and Dance event. There will be heavy, rapier, archery and chess tournaments as well as dance classes all day, and Masquerade dancing starting at 5:30pm, through the evening. Everyone is encouraged to bring masks to add to the ambiance. We planned this event right after Halloween for a reason! We will have a mask-making table and supplies available during the day for anyone who wants to make their own. There will be prizes for Coolest Mask, Funniest mask and Scariest Mask.

Rapier: A tournament, which will require combatants to travel through the nine circles of hell, is being planned. More information to be posted here as it becomes available.
Arn Hold seeks her own Renaissance man or woman, who can demonstrate ability in multiple fields. The competition will take place on November 3 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Boise, and will accompany the new Baronial Investiture. Come for a day of pomp and ceremony, of skill and sheer fun, of learning and doing. The winner will receive a (nominal, I admit) commission for a permanent display piece for future baronial demos.
The first two Unbelted Tournaments will be held at Nahrun Kabirun's SCA
encampment at the DAAC Renaissance Arts & Crafts Faire to be held on the 3rd
& 4th of November respectively.
The first Tournament of the series fought on Saturday the 3rd will be fought
using Single Sword, on hand. If the on hand is struck, then the off hand
may be utilized.
The second tourney of the series will be fought on Sunday the 4th using

The College of Blaiddwyn would like to invite you to join us in a celebration of wonder and magic with, The Mask Ball of Enchantment. Let us welcome new friends and old friends alike who wish to be a part of our medieval experience through the arts of music and ballroom dance, with a hint of mystery of who lies behind the mask.
The festivities will take place on Friday, November 16th from 6pm-9:30pm. There will be prizes for the best made mask in several different categories, best scary mask, best enchantment mask, best medieval mask and best Blaiddwyn themed mask. There will refreshments and drinks provided.

The Shire of Nithgaard will host its fifth annual textile symposium on the weekend of November 16-18, at the Sieg Conference Center located on Narrows Road in Lamar, PA (no street address). Saturday the 17th will be a day of classes and workshops devoted to fabric, string, and their glorious arts. Melee and tournament combat engagements in a medieval style will be organized by Thorvaaldr Frirsverth. Head cook Aurora Nicola will be providing a Mongolian feast.
