Since 1990, the Kitchener-Waterloo branch (Bryniau Tywynnog) of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) has presented a day of classes exemplifying the best of the Middle Ages. Over the years, several other groups such as the Dark Ages Recreation Company, Regia, and AEMMA have joined the SCA in making this an exciting and educational event. FITP is a non-profit event with any profit going to the local chapter of the SCA (a non-profit group). The local chapter also covers the losses in the years where FITP loses money.

All hands are needed to travel to Gotham--er, to travel to OSTGARDR-- to play the foole for the king's Tax Collectors, to disport themselves in foolish pastimes and games (including a Foolish Archery Shoot; it will be safe--we're fools, not idiots 8), to tell and hear foolish tales and songs, and to partake of a Foolish Feast in which nothing is as it appears.
All fighters and combat archers of these Sylvan Lands are called to the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands to besiege or defend the Castle! The year is 1404, and a brave English garrison defends Harlech castle from the assault of Welsh forces led by Owen Glendower.
Owen's victory allowed him to occupy Harlech as his base for the next 5 years, after which the English re-conquered this Edwardian stronghold. On April 5, 2008, the English shall once again defend Harlech against the Welsh attackers, and we shall see who triumphs this day.

Robin Netherton is an internationally known researcher and lecturer of medieval dress history and co-editor of the journal Medieval Clothing and Textiles. Very often, the only evidence is a hole in the ground containing some pieces of leather. Ms. Leed has given several talks and seminars on the topic of Renaissance and Elizabethan dress for various groups, and taught a six-week class on Elizabethan Dress at the CostumeClassroom.com.
Your presence is requested at the tourney to determine the heirs to the Griffin Thrones. The tourney will be hosted by the Barony of Sentinels' Keep on the twelfth of April 2008.
Per Their Majesties wishes NO stabbing weapons will be permitted. This includes butt spikes and tips on spears or blocking weapons. Back spikes on axes are acceptable. The list will be a standard double elimination and the finals will be fought best two out of three with all previous deaths forgiven. Both the fighter and consort will be required to attend the tournament.

Members of the Archaeological Leather Group are frequently contacted by archaeologists who think they have uncovered a tannery site. Very often, the only evidence is a hole in the ground containing some pieces of leather. In order to increase knowledge and understanding of leather manufacturing techniques, the ALG is organising conference entitled Archaeological Leather Group Weekend Conference HAVE WE GOT A TANNERY?

Ms. Leed has studied Renaissance clothing and textiles for over ten years. She’s presented papers at the International Congress of Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo and the Medieval Congress at Leeds, England. Ms. Leed has given several talks and seminars on the topic of Renaissance and Elizabethan dress for various groups, and taught a six-week class on Elizabethan Dress at the CostumeClassroom.com.
Your presence is requested at the tourney to determine the heirs to the Griffin Thrones. The tourney will be hosted by the Barony of Sentinels' Keep on the twelfth of April 2008.
Per Their Majesties wishes NO stabbing weapons will be permitted. This includes butt spikes and tips on spears or blocking weapons. Back spikes on axes are acceptable. The list will be a standard double elimination and the finals will be fought best two out of three with all previous deaths forgiven. Both the fighter and consort will be required to attend the tournament.
