Dark Ages bright spot in Tuscon, Arizona

About 100 SCAdians gathered in Tuscon's Himmel Park for the Dragon's Hoard Annual Festival of Monsters, a fundraiser for the Barony of Tir Ysgithr, where they interacted with some of the locals. Jeffry Scott of the Arizona Daily Star has the story. (photos)
"I came here last year and fought the dragon," said 16-year-old Norse-persona Valbjorn Hruttson while waiting to fight the "red dragon" with his two-handed war axe. "I didn't get far at all, but, my god, it was fun." The "red dragon" consisted squires from the group. Other members displayed skills and crafts.
