Denmark and Cyprus pay tribute to 12th century king

The countries of Denmark and Cyprus recently banded together to honor a 12th century Danish king who died on the island during the First Crusade.
Erik Ejegod (Evergood), who had sworn a vow of chastity, never made it to the Holy Land but died in 1103 in the western Cypriot town of Paphos. Although the locals don't know where the king was buried, they do honor his memory. |
