Don Shamino, known in the modern world as Richard Garriott, became the first SCA member to travel into space October 12, 2008 when he blasted off in a Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft. The 47-year-old multimillionaire from Austin, Texas paid US$30 million to spend time on the International Space Station.
