Traditional research claims d’Artagnan's body was brought back to France, but Bordaz believes otherwise and hopes to get permission from the Catholic Church and the Dutch government to excavate the churchyard at Saint Peter and Paul Church in Wolder. Musketeer expert Odile Bordaz believes she has discovered the final resting place of Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan, made famous in Alexandre Dumas’s novel The Three Musketeers, who died during the Siege of Maastricht in the Netherlands in 1673.
