Norman Pillar Uncovered in Coventry

A pillar from the Benedictine Priority Cathedral, which was destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII, has been unearthed in Coventry, England.
Archaeologists have long known of the existence of the eighth pillar from the ruins of the cathedral, but they knew that it was buried beneath a row of Georgian houses. Now, thanks to restoration work being done on the houses, the last column, or pier, has been exposed. |
