Melee Madness in the Meadow & Central War Practice

Aethelmearc | Martial Activities
2005/06/03 - 22:00

It is once again time to prepare for war. In preparation, we must practice. In order to practice, it is best to have MANY Melees. We should therefore Melee until the Madness is upon us!

This year marks the twentieth Anniversary of the "Melee Madness in the Meadow" event. Thus, in the meadows of Endless Hills, we will be performing many melees for the glory of the Sylvan Kingdom of Aethelmearc. Please come join us on the field of battle, to test your metal (or leather), and help to prepare for the inevitability of war.

While we are saddened that our neighbors to the west, Abhainn Ciach Glais, were not able to host this year's Central war practice, the Barony of Endless Hills has taken up the banner of war in their stead and is calling forth the hosts of Aethelmearc to come and make ready with us in the meadows of our Barony.

As in the past, we shall be hosting our traditional 5-man melee, warlord melee and torchlight tourney to name but a few of the martial activities of the day. In addition, this year we will hold a new tournament. The "Achilles 'something' tourney". (If you want to know what the heck this is, show up and fight for your right to know.)

And just in case Melee fighting isn't your thing, there will be plenty of other activities to keep you entertained such as an Arts & Sciences forum, a thrown weapons tournament, Archery shoots, Fencing battles, and children's activities. We will also be having a combat archery competition to prepare all the archer's to fight on the field at Pennsic.

As always at Melee Madness, lunch is provided free for all attendees.

The Evenings feast will be a German feast. Please contact Mistress Euriol for information regarding the feast ingredients. Please reserve early due to the limited space and availability of the feast.

This is a discretely damp site; it is not however handicap friendly. While there are flush privies, there is no showering facility on site. For those more modernly inclined a list of local hotels will be available upon request from the autocrat.

Merchants are welcome, with no additional costs. However, there is only "open market" merchant space, due to site restrictions on tent spike usage in the "common" areas. Merchants are required to register with the autocrat prior to the event date, in order to provide adequate space to all registered merchants.
