The medieval Torre Abbey in Torquay is undergoing the first phase of a UK£6.5 million refurbishment to turn it into an educational facility and tourist attraction.

Contractors are working on a late 18th-century staircase, late 17th-century window frames, a rare 14th-century grave slab, an 800-year-old colour scheme, a cloister garden, a late 18th-century fireplace, a series of late 17th-century windows and a large medieval washbasin.
