Edinburgh's lost tower found

Archaeologists working at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland have found what they believe to be remnants of the Constable's Tower, destroyed during the reign of Elizabeth I. The tower was thought to have been lost forever.
The fragments were found near the portcullis gate during excavation for a new visitor center. One of the fragments was a three-foot-long carved piece of masonry. "This has the potential to tell us much more about this tower," said archaeologist Peter Yeoman. |
