Greetings from the staff of Volunteer Point. It is time to plan those volunteer hours that will help make Estrella XXIII successful. This year we are providing you with a couple options for signing up. You can sign up using the form provided on the website or you can sign up at Estrella War when you arrive. By signing up on line you will avoid having to take the time to fill out the forms at Volunteer Point. The forms will be ready in the books for you to start logging your hours! If you don’t know what hours you are available to work but you know where you would like to put in some hours just enter in the area that you want to work. Your form will be forwarded to the person in charge of that area and they can contact you to set up your schedule. If you have specific times that you wish to work you may fill those in as well as the area you wish to work those hours. Again, the person in charge will contact you to verify the hours specified on your form and get you onto their schedule. If you volunteer for specific times and places please make sure that you show up when you are scheduled to work. This will save a lot of stressful time trying to find someone to replace you. If you know in advance that you are unable to make a shift please let us know and we will make arrangements to fill that shift for you. We understand that planning in advance can sometimes be difficult and things happen to make your schedules change. Just let us know and we will work with you.
Volunteering has many rewards. You get the opportunity to meet and work with gentles from all over the world. Many long lasting friendships are formed by volunteering. You will also see a part of the war that many don’t have the opportunity to see simply because they don’t spend time behind the scenes. Besides the personal benefits of volunteering you will be able to build the coffers of your group. Yes, your hours earn financial rewards for your group! You may also adopt a group to help them build their coffers. Sometimes this is the only real fundraiser that the smaller groups have. The group that you choose to receive the monies earned by your hours must be registered with the SCA. There is also the Volunteer Banner. The group with the most volunteer hours will fly the banner in their camp at the next year’s Estrella War. These groups can be Baronies, Shires, Cantons, Households, Guilds, etc.
Volunteering is really very easy. Just sign up for the times and places you wish to work and show up at those times. Once you have worked your hours the person in charge of the area you worked will give you a ticket that shows the hours and the area worked. You will bring these tickets to Volunteer Point where the hours are logged into a book and you will be given raffle tickets for your hours. There are raffles held for the volunteers with wonderful goodies that are donated by our most generous merchants. The ticket that was used to log your hours now becomes a meal ticket at the Hospitality House which is located next to Volunteer Point and run by the Hospitality Corp. These wonderful gentles feed all of the hard workers who help us run the war.

Instructions for filling out the Volunteer Hours Form:
Fill in the blanks, if you do not have an SCA name please use your legal name. The forms will be filed by the FIRST LETTER of your FIRST NAME. We like to have both your SCA and your legal name if possible. Make sure to put a contact number or email address so that you can be contacted by the person in charge of the area you wish to work. If you know specific days that you wish to work please enter them under Date. If you know specific hours, those go under Time In, Time Out. Be sure to put a.m. or p.m. so we know if this is a night or daytime shift you are seeking. If you know the specific area, fill that in as well under Job. Fill in the blank of the group that you wish your monies earned to go to and at the bottom of the form is a blank for the group that you wish your hours to count for the Volunteer Banner. (They don’t have to be the same.) Once the form is filled in you can email it to ladysarah75@cox.net. I will print it out and get it into the books as well as forward it on to the person in charge of the area (s) you request to work.
