May it be known to all to whom these letters come that we, the aviculturists of the known world, along with the feathered companions whom we count as equal members, do declare our intent and purpose thus:
As it has been from the beginning of ancient times, through the Middle Ages, and beyond, so it is our desire to grow in greater understanding of companion birds, in the history of such birds, in the methods of stewardship towards them, in the nature of their impact on human society, and on the impact of human society upon their lives. We recognize that humans have often caused harm to such birds, as it was in the middle ages and continues to this day, and do declare that such harm is unacceptable. Believing that the virtue of chivalry applies to all life, we affirm our committment to research, to study, and to teaching the art of medieval and modern aviculture within our membership and beyond. We affirm our committment to helping all companion birds, both in captivity and in the wild, so that the harm rendered to them in the past shall not extend into the future.
We therefore declare ourselves the Company of Medieval Aviculturists and include in our membership all those who share in our passion for this noble and ancient art. We include among ourselves as equal members both humans and avians in affirmation that no one is above another and inscribe on this scroll the names of both.
Therefore we sign we,
